The Rights Side of History
Welcome to The Rights Side of History, a space dedicated to compelling conversations on human rights, power dynamics, and global norms.
This blog arose from the recognition that we are living through perilous times in history. The increasing number of conflicts, democratic backsliding, systemic inequality, and blatant human rights violations materializes throughout the world. Yet, instead of building common ground, we are consumed by a harmful polarization that not only reduces complex struggles for justice into oversimplified sides but also paralyzes meaningful action and increases political tensions.

Beyond the triviality of ‘right or wrong’, the objective is never to be neutral. We choose to be on the (human) rights side of history, which implies prioritizing justice, human dignity and truth. In this space, we unapologetically advocate for the defense and promotion of human rights and international law, both which are increasingly undermined and weaponized.
We discuss the shifting structures of power that affect our daily lives and expose the silences that perpetuate injustice. In doing so, we hope that this space inspires questions and new conversations that encourage critical thought. We, therefore, invite you to engage with these reflections, challenge them, and develop your own opinion.
